The Nutcracker

Ballet Lubbock’s 45th Annual Performance

Ballet Lubbock’s 45th Annual Performance of The Nutcracker

Ballet Lubbock will present its 45th annual performance of The Nutcracker on December 1 – 3 and 8 – 10 at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences.

Beginning in September, dancers from elementary school to high school begin rehearsing for The Nutcracker through classes in Ballet Lubbock’s Leveled Instruction. From Clara to Dew Drop to the Little Mice, dancers of all levels fill the roles of this beloved holiday tradition.

This year, Ballet Lubbock has brought in two guest artists from Ballet Hispanico in New York City to perform the Sugar Plum Fairy & Cavalier. Each performance features gorgeous, hand-painted sets and drops designed by renowned set designer Peter Horne.

According to Erin Grigson, Ballet Lubbock’s Marketing Director, theatergoers will be “blown away by the talent these young dancers display.” The sets, the costumes, the choreography, all come together to make Ballet Lubbock’s The Nutcracker one of the South Plains’ favorite holiday traditions.

Went to see the nutcracker for the first time when I was 6. Now I’m in college and it’s still such a fond memory!

One of my favorite memories I have with my brother. He took me to see the Nutcracker when I was 19 and loved it ever since. So because of him I look forward to see it on tv (both NYC BALLET CO. & Disney) if I miss out on LBK BALLET show.
