Lubbock Named in Top 5 Cities
With Best Traffic and Work-Life Balance
With a yearly average of 10 hours of commute time, Lubbock was recently named in the Top five US cities with the best traffic. This CNBC study was based on annual hours spent in congestion per commuter in 2017. Lubbock’s unique infrastructure design allows for drivers to get to their destination within only 16 minutes. Residents are able to hop on the Loop and arrive at work in what a Smartasset study found to be the lowest average commute time.
It is no coincidence that a short commute would attribute to Lubbock also being ranked 4th best in Smartasset’s top cities with the best work-life balance. According to the study, only 3% of Lubbock residents commute over 60 minutes. This short wait grants locals time to enjoy all that the “Hub City” has to offer.
Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) CEO John Osborne is pleased to see Lubbock among the top-rated cities in both categories. He says Lubbock is a great place to live and work, offering the conveniences of short wait times in traffic and close proximity.
“Being a part of this community enables success both in and out of the office. This balance creates greater opportunity for businesses who are looking to expand or relocate by offering what other places cannot. A short commute recaptures lost productivity by not only boosting employee morale, but by eliminating excess time going to and from the workplace.”
Mayor Dan Pope of Lubbock praises the short commute time. He said the low average drive time reflects positively on the citizens of Lubbock, which makes for a great community.
“For me, work-life balance means working hard when it is time to work, and enjoying my time at home, with my family, or friends at the end of a long day. In a recent study, Lubbock was ranked number one for shortest commute times in America. Only 32 minutes a day round-trip allows us more leisure time to enjoy life. It was not a surprise to me that this same study found that longer commutes can have serious implications on a person’s well-being. Our average 16-minute drive to and from work makes Lubbockites more productive, relaxed and happy.”
If you are searching for a new place to move your business or call home, look no further. Lubbock’s work-life balance, accommodated by the short drive to and from work, will positively impact you and your family. If that isn’t enough of a reason to come, check out how great it is to raise a family here!
