Lubbock is one of the top 17 cities that are getting richer

Over the past 50 years, the median household income has nearly doubled in Lubbock. According to GoBankingRates, Lubbock’s per capita income, median income, poverty rate and population have improved enough to earn a spot among the Top 17 cities that are getting richer. In a study done by GoBankingRates, these factors were analyzed from 1969 and ending in 2019. Results found that Lubbock became 99% richer in the past half century.  

Traditionally, high-adjusted incomes have correlated to even higher unemployment rates and poor projected job growth. Fortunately, this is not the case for Lubbock; the “Hub City” was also ranked third in the Top 10 metros with high-adjusted incomes and above-average opportunities.

Indeed, the largest online employment search engine, gathered salary data on each job posting in Lubbock from July 2017 to June 2018. Findings proved Lubbock to be among the top metros with a promising future of opportunities.

Within the last five years, two thirds of the jobs added are $50,000. The high-adjusted incomes in Lubbock allow citizens to maximize every dollar earned. Instead of spending a large percentage of income on high-priced real estate, affordable housing is available. This grants local the freedom to utilize their earnings.
