Celebrating CTE Month
Shaping the Future Workforce OF Lubbock
February marks Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to highlight the impact of CTE programs in preparing students for high-demand careers and strengthening the workforce in Lubbock. Across the Lubbock area, school districts are equipping students with real-world skills, bridging the gap between education and industry, and providing them with opportunities for lifelong success.
This year, LEDA is spotlighting the incredible regional CTE programs at Frenship ISD, Slaton ISD, Lubbock ISD, Brownfield ISD, Roosevelt ISD and Lubbock Cooper ISD. Through hands-on training, industry certifications, and partnerships with local businesses, these programs are not just educating students—they’re empowering them to step confidently into the workforce and shape the future of our community. Here’s a glimpse at some of the many programs thriving across our region:

From mastering the basics to diagnosing and repairing real vehicles, students learn industry standards while servicing around 100 staff and community cars annually. Led by instructor Dana Vinson, the program operates like a professional repair shop, giving students practical experience in estimates, diagnostics, and repairs. Auto 2 students can earn ASE Entry Level and EPA 609 certifications, preparing them for careers in a field facing a national shortage of skilled professionals. Frenship ISD is steering students toward success—one repair at a time!
