11 Kid-Friendly Indoor Activities in Lubbock, TX
Whether it’s windy or rainy, hot or cold, West Texas weather can change on a dime. It leaves some parents looking for engaging and entertaining activities to keep their little ones happily occupied indoors. Luckily, Lubbock has plenty of delightful, kid-friendly indoor spots for whatever weather the day brings. From creative crafts to interactive learning exhibits, these ideas will help you make the most of time spent inside.
The first indoor park in West Texas, Milestones Development and Play Park, is a must-see location no matter the season. With no time restriction on the Day Pass, children can explore the park to their heart’s content. A single-day play pass or membership can be purchased on the Milestones website or in person.

Play Street Museum is an immersive and educational exhibit that provides hands-on exploration for little ones. It’s thoughtfully designed to encourage learning opportunities through real-world environments. Children can release their creativity at the art station, cook up some fun in the custom slime lab, or let their imagination run wild at the doctor’s office, pet shop, and fire station.

#3 National Ranching Heritage Center
The National Ranching Heritage Center has something for all ages. In addition to viewing their indoor exhibits, other family-friendly activities include an interactive scavenger hunt and a Hank the Cowdog exhibit. The NRHC also hosts annual events throughout the year, like Ranch Day, Summer Youth Camp, and Candlelight at the Ranch. Plus, admission is FREE!

Lubbock’s first paint-your-own pottery studio, Clay Cafe, offers a creative space for families looking to get out of the house and try something hands-on. As a family-owned business, Clay Cafe focuses on providing a fun, welcoming environment for all ages. They offer classes for children ages 5–10 and a wide variety of pottery to paint. Walk-ins are always welcome!

A Lubbock go-to for family fun, Adventure Park offers nonstop entertainment all year long! With an indoor arcade, laser maze, obstacle course, and a full menu to keep everyone fueled, it’s an easy choice for a day of fun. Admission is available for purchase online or in-store.

#6 Science Spectrum and OMNI Theater
The Science Spectrum Museum and OMNI Theater are another great hands-on option, with over 250 interactive science exhibits. The OMNI Theater is open daily, showing a variety of science-based movies that rotate throughout the year. The Museum hosts permanent exhibits such as the Science of Sports, Gallery of Flight, Margaret’s Boutique, Space Center, Dinosaur Exhibit, and more!

The Silent Wings Museum is a great spot to practice museum manners too! This museum features the planes flown, weapons fired, and missions carried out during WWII. This one is especially great for older kiddos with a particular interest in history and machinery, but children six years old can go for free.

The Buddy Holly Center holds a lot of history too. It’s home to the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame and features a permanent exhibition on the life of Buddy Holly. The exhibit includes Holly’s Fender Stratocaster guitar, glasses, stage clothes, and much more. The center also includes a Fine Arts Gallery with temporary, unique art exhibits.

ART & Co. offers fun art classes, camps, and private events for all ages. All of these options offer a great opportunity to get the kids out of the house and use their creative side. Prices are available on ART & Co.’s Facebook.

Need a spacious place for high-energy kiddos? MaxxAir Trampoline Park is the place for you! This park offers a foam pit, gymnastics tumble tracks, a kid zone, basketball lanes, and dodgeball. It’s the perfect way for the whole family to get that energy out when the weather isn’t cooperating. Admission is available for purchase at the park or online.

The Mom Lounge cultivates a relaxing environment for mothers and their children. Moms can spend time with their little ones through different kinds of activities, like yoga, dance, story time, sensory play, and more. Sit back and enjoy some special moments with your girl gang and the kiddos.
