Founding and Vision

Hairbreak Hotel was founded in June 2022 by 29-year-old Tristan Chancey. Tristan grew up in a small town just south of Plainview but moved to Lubbock in the middle of her junior year of high school. After graduation, she attended South Plains College to pursue a degree in social work but very quickly decided that wasn’t for her. Therefore, “after one very long semester,” she enrolled in Virginia College’s Cosmetology program.

“One of my career goals has always been to be a business owner here in my hometown,” Tristan said. “West Texas has always been the place I call home and it has a strong community with a plethora of events supporting local businesses. I have a lot of people supporting me; Support that you can only find from home sweet home!”

Initially operating out of a booth within Encore Salon, Tristan quickly realized her vision of creating a distinctive space for men’s haircare needs. Driven by her desire to provide a full, stable life for her two children, Emma and Elliot, Tristan decided to fully launch the Hairbreak Hotel.

“Being involved and present in every aspect of their lives is my top priority,” Tristan said. “As a single mother, I knew I needed to expand my goals to be able to provide them the life that they deserve. There isn’t a place in town like the vision I had, and I knew I could give not only my amazing clients, but all the men of this community somewhere to unwind and feel like they are getting their share of pampering.”

The Significance Behind the Name

The salon’s name, Hairbreak Hotel, holds deep personal significance for Tristan. It honors her late grandmother, Frances Perkins, who instilled in her a love for Elvis Presley and supported her dreams. This tribute is evident in the salon’s decor and thematic elements.

“The name Hairbreak Hotel is near and dear to my heart,” Tristan said. “In honor of, in my opinion, the best grandmother in the world, I created Hairbreak Hotel as a touch of my style and a touch of hers. I know she would be “All Shook Up” to see what I have created for her.”

Hairbreak Hotel is strategically located near the new loop and I-27, making it easily accessible from various parts of Lubbock and surrounding communities. The south side of town is experiencing rapid growth, and the salon’s location positions it perfectly to serve a growing clientele.

Hairbreak Hotel offers a comprehensive haircare experience that sets it apart from other local establishments. With experienced stylists who have at least four years of experience, the salon provides personalized and skilled services for men of all ages and styles. The focus is on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where clients are treated like family.

One of the standout features of Hairbreak Hotel is its exclusive line of in-house beard oils. Developed by Tristan herself, who boasts eight years of experience, these products were created to meet the specific needs of her clients. The oils, which include unique blends like All Shook Up, Burning Love, Hound Dog and Blue Suede Shoes, have received positive feedback and are a testament to Tristan’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Tristan has ambitious plans for Hairbreak Hotel. She envisions expanding to multiple locations, potentially in different towns, while continuing to enhance the existing salon. Immediate plans include expanding the staff, introducing a cigar inventory and improving the salon’s curb appeal.
