  • Marketing Manager

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    Position Reports To: Director of Marketing & Communications
    Positions Supervised: None

    POSITION PURPOSE

    Reports to and assists the Director of Marketing & Communications with all segments of the organizations’ marketing and advertising strategy. The Marketing Manager is responsible for the coordination and development of the organizations’ advertising and marketing programs. In addition, this position helps manage the analyzing, reviewing and reporting the effectiveness of the organizations’ marketing efforts.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

    1. Assist in development and execution of all marketing campaigns for LEDA, Market Lubbock, Visit Lubbock and Lubbock Sports to help us meet our year-end goals. Including print collateral, digital, social, print media.
    2. Oversight of the marketing project process to ensure workflow and schedules are manageable
    3. Manage internal relationships and communication to ensure strategic alignment of business objectives and marketing efforts
    4. Communicate project goals and schedule to project stakeholders and keep them informed of status through Basecamp
    5. Media Planning Assistance and Research
    6. Maintain and update production calendars for LEDA, Visit Lubbock, Lubbock Sports and verify production specs.
    7. Coordinate delivery and maintenance of ongoing advertising contracts.
    8. Review new advertising opportunities and evaluate impact/effectiveness of current advertising initiatives.
    9. Maintain monthly budget and documentation of marketing goals.
    10. Assist all organizational teams in the selling and promoting of Lubbock, optimizing efforts to recruit new business, retain existing businesses and enhance visitor experiences.
    11. Assist in maintaining national, regional, state and local profile in the economic development and travel industry through associations, committees and marketing cooperatives.
    12. Attend tradeshows that promote Lubbock to other marketers from an economic development standpoint or as a convention and meeting destination
    13. Maintain membership in pertinent professional associations and community organizations
    14. Establish and maintain effective relationships with community partners, business and industry members, customers and the public
    15. Perform other duties as assigned.

    PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

    1. Marketing projects are planned in detail and are executed as smoothly as possible.
    2. Advertising, public relations, market research efforts are professional, accurate and promptly completed.
    3. Organizational websites are accurate, maintained and professional at all times.
    4. Effective communication and coordination exists with sales, servicing and sports staff.
    5. Administrative support functions are completed effectively and efficiently.
    6. Department functions are conducted in accordance with established company procedures and policies.
    7. All department records are current, accurate and organized.
    8. Arrives to work punctually and effectively uses time to complete assigned projects within the time frame specified.
    9. Develops a positive working relationship with all other staff members.
    10. Maintains a high degree of integrity when making decisions that involve the use of funds generated by local taxes.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications or similar field
    Experience Required: Three to Five (3-5) years preferred
    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Self starter and ability to work unsupervised when supervisor is out of the office
    • Knowledge of website design and administration
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
    • Sense of urgency and calm performance under deadline pressure
    • Multi-tasking and ability to shift tasks as priorities change
    • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofing skills
    • Desktop publishing experience a must
    • Good communication and organization skills
    • Familiarity with the local area
    • Teamwork and positive office partnership skills
    • Possess functional knowledge and/or experience with WordPress

    POSITION PURPOSE

    Reports to and assists the Director of Marketing & Communications with a variety of copy needs including blog posts and long form articles. The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for the creation and development of the organizations’ copy content needs. This person will also be required to make art and digital graphic edits to existing materials as needed.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

    Responsible for creating, developing, maintaining and managing content for the organizations’ websites, blogs, print collateral, native articles, digital ad copy and landing pages.

    1. Ensure that website content is consistent with each organizations’ marketing campaign and target audiences and that it is refreshed continually to maximize our SEO.
    2. Develop relevant and engaging content for the organizations’ blogs.
    3. Create compelling InMail emails that reinforce our marketing strategies.
    4. Develop engaging headlines and or short paragraphs for a variety of advertising material.
    5. Refresh all content to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information and images, as well as copyedit and proofread all content.
    6. Develop digital ad copy and native articles that are clear, concise and compelling.
    7. Assist in coordination of photo/video shoots for social, blogs, websites and other campaigns as requested.
    8. Responsible for updating marketing activities on Simpleview platform
    9. Identify and tag hotels/attractions that have been promoted through the team’s various marketing efforts.
    10. Input information regarding travel writer’s itineraries.
    11. Engage Partners
    12. Proactively communicate with partners regarding marketing activities and promotions.
    13. Work with hotels, attractions, restaurants and local boutiques to secure the donation of gift cards/giveaway items to be used for sweepstakes and various promotional efforts on an annual basis.
    14. Coordinate “Attraction Roundtables” and Lunch and Learns.
    15. Assist in development and execution of marketing campaigns for LEDA, Market Lubbock, Visit Lubbock and Lubbock Sports.
    16. Explore and develop new and unique concepts for both the visual and written elements in tandem with the creative team
    17. Assist in the minimal revising of print and digital projects as requested; prior knowledge is a plus but we can train as well
