Legendary southern rock group The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB) and rock staple Jefferson Starship are coming together for a historic road show Live on Cloud 9 Tour. The two bands have a history dating back to the 1970s, and MTB lead singer Doug Gray couldn’t be more thrilled about reuniting with Jefferson Starship.
The Marshall Tucker Band, formed in 1972 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, embodies timeless Southern rock. Led by vocalist Doug Gray, their music, including hits like “Heard It in a Love Song” and “Can’t You See,” has left a lasting impact on fans and fellow musicians. With a rich catalog, their influence extends through generations. The band, undeterred by time, continues its musical journey, promising more stories to tell and a future as vibrant as their legendary past.
Jefferson Starship, formed by Paul Kantner in the ’70s, embraced his vision of musical exploration and concept albums. The current lineup, united since 2012, views themselves as a close-knit “family” and “gang.” Their energetic performances have spanned all 50 U.S. states and five continents. Despite Kantner’s 2016 passing, his spirit of cosmic musical exploration lives on, inspiring the band’s ongoing journey, symbolized by his mantra: “Onward.”
