New Leadership Joins LEDA Board to Drive Lubbock’s Growth
The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) and Market Lubbock is proud to announce the appointment of three distinguished leaders in the Lubbock community to its Board of Directors: Robert Taylor, Jordan Wheatley, and Mont McClendon.
These new members bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to fostering economic growth and opportunity in Lubbock.
- Jordan Wheatley, a Lubbock native and Texas Tech Construction Engineering graduate, has built over 500 homes in the area and co-founded 806 Land Group, which now spans 10 residential subdivisions across West Texas. He also owns Orchard Park Self Storage and The Horizon Office Center. A former president of the West Texas Home Builders Association, Jordan recently chaired the PAC for the successful 2024 Lubbock Roadway Bond. He and his wife, Christiane, have three children who attend Lubbock Christian School.
- Mont McClendon, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, oversees the finances and daily operations at McDougal Companies. He spent 20 years practicing real estate and business law at the McClendon Law Firm alongside his father, Jack McClendon, before transitioning into corporate leadership. Mont has served on several local volunteer boards and was president of the Lubbock Apartment Association, reflecting his strong commitment to the Lubbock community.
- Robert Taylor, a lifelong Lubbock resident and Texas Tech University graduate, brings decades of business and community leadership experience. As former CEO of United Supermarkets, he led significant expansion while keeping Lubbock as its headquarters. Robert has served on numerous local boards, supported Texas Tech initiatives, and remains deeply involved in the community alongside his wife, Jan Smith Taylor.

LEDA is governed by a nine-member board of directors. Board members are appointed by the Lubbock City Council and commit to serve a three-year term.
