Parks and Lakes

Mackenzie Park

At 248 acres, Mackenzie Park is Lubbock’s largest recreation area and features a wide variety of fun for all ages. Tee off at the recently renovated Meadowbrook Golf Course or enjy a game at the world-class disc golf course. Visit Prairie Dog Town and watch the pint-sized critters play in their natural habitat, or bring your horses and ride through incredible landscapes on the park’s equestrian trails. Be sure to visit the ALON/USA Fina “Crossroads of Time” sculpture garden featuring the larger-than-life sculptures of artist Steve Teeters.

Mackenzie Parks is also the home of Prairie Dog Town, Joyland Amusement Park, the Crossroads in Time Sculpture Garden, an equestrian trail, outdoor center, the Well Fargo Amphitheater and numerous softball and baseball fields.

Legacy Play Village

Legacy Play Village is a unique facility where children can play while learning about the long legacy of the South Plains. The village was designed and built by the citizens of Lubbock and the surrounding area and stands as one of the nation’s largest community built playgrounds.

Buffalo Springs Lake

The entire family can enjoy fishing, water-skiing, hiking, picnic and camping areas, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, horse trails and a 9-hole golf course when they visit Buffalo Springs Lake.  A party house is also available for group functions.

Lake Alan Henry

Lake Alan Henry is a reservoir built by the City of Lubbock that provides an outstanding recreational area for people to enjoy fishing, skiing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Camp on primitive sites overlooking the lake and hike its rugged trails. Fishermen will enjoy one of the premier bass fishing lakes in Texas and hunters can participate in hunting opportunities throughout the year. Situated on the South Fork of the Double Mountains Fork of the Brazos River, the lake extends 11 miles between the rocky sides of the river channel and has 56 miles of shoreline.

Spirit Ranch
