Local Workforce

Lubbock was founded by hard-working people that braved many hardships in order to build a thriving city upon the plains. With one of the lower unemployment rates in Texas, it’s plain to see that the same, can-do attitude of the early pioneers lives on today.

In 2011, the Lubbock MSA workforce was 147,982, an increase of 1.9 percent growth from 2010.
Government jobs as well as those in trade, transportation and utilities, led the employment sectors with the greatest increase found in professional and business services at 10.5 percent.
